Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — Featuring RDA
> Brake pads are dead important for your Peugeot or Citroen's braking. They turn all that go-juice into stopping power using friction. But they wear out over time, especially if you're always slamming on the brakes around town.
What Clued You In?
• Brakes squealing like a pig? Sounds like metal on metal, mate.
• Taking way too long to stop, aye?
• That pesky brake pad light's lit up on the dash.
• Pads look rooted when you had a geez.
• Wearing unevenly? Caliper might be playing up.
Will it pass WOF?
Worn brake pads are a no-go for a WOF here in NZ. They gotta be thick enough to stop you safely. Give 'em a regular check to be sure.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you dive in, let's make sure you're all set for a safe and tidy job. Brakes create a lot of nasty dust, so here's what Bob recommends:
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car that's only held up by a jack. Use proper Jack Stands. No exceptions!
• Keep it Clean: Grab a can of Brake Cleaner to blast away all that brake dust. Trust me, your lungs will thank you.
• Glove Up: Protect your hands with some heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves. Brake dust is a bugger to get off.
• Stop the Squeal: A bit of anti-seize Caliper Grease on the contact points will keep things quiet.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
