Description

Spark Plug Refresh: Get Your Classic Firing on All Cylinders with Champion
> Old spark plugs letting your classic down? They're vital for igniting the go-juice in your engine. Heat, carbon, and plain old wear cause them to degrade, leading to misfires and a sad-sounding engine in your FIAT 500 or VOLVO 144.
Is it Time for New Spark Plugs?
• Engine's misfiring, especially when you put your foot down?
• Idling rough as guts or even stalling?
• Suddenly using more gas than usual?
• Having a heck of a time getting it started?
• Engine light's on (if your classic even has one!).
Will it pass WOF?
Dodgy spark plugs can cause your emissions to spike, which means a big fat WOF failure. Best get them sorted!

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get cracking, a few simple things to keep you safe and the job clean:
• Safety First: Engines get HOT! Make sure the engine is stone cold before you start poking around. A decent pair of Nitrile Gloves will keep the oil and grime off your hands. And safety glasses are a no-brainer.
• Keep it Clean: Before you pull the old plugs, give the area around them a good blast with some compressed air or a brush to stop crud from falling into the cylinders.
• Spark Plug Grease: Smear a tiny amount of anti-seize grease on the new spark plug threads. This will make your life much easier next time you need to pull them out.
• Don't Overtighten: Torque those plugs to the correct spec – too tight and you risk damaging the head. Too loose, and you'll have problems. Use a torque wrench!
Expert Recommendation
Swapping out those spark plugs is key to keeping your classic running sweet and sipping fuel, not guzzling it. A tired spark plug means incomplete combustion, wasting petrol and potentially buggering up your engine. Bob @ CARFIX is your man for sussing out exactly what you need for your classic ride. Fitment Notes
Double-check you've got the right spark plug gap for your engine. A tiny smear of anti-seize on the threads is your friend. Your service manual will have the torque specs – don't guess!
Bob's tip: When you're doing this job, it's a good idea to check your spark plug leads as well and replace them if they look cracked or damaged. A new set of leads can really perk up an older engine. You can find a great range of spark plug leads here at CARFIX.

🛠️ Bob's Pro Tip: Do the Job Right!
> If you're replacing this spark plug, make sure you've got the right workshop prep, protection, and safety gear ready. Taking a bit of extra time and using the proper safety stands and cleaners makes all the difference for a professional result!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Always secure your vehicle on heavy-duty safety jack stands before working underneath. Never rely solely on a hydraulic jack.
• Clean Hands: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your skin from grease, oils, and chemical sprays.
• Preparation: Have microfibre towels and a suitable parts cleaner nearby to keep components clean during installation.
