The Citroen ID, produced from 1971-1975, was a simplified and more affordable alternative to the groundbreaking Citroen DS. Like the DS, the ID can suffer from hydraulic system leaks and suspension issues. Rust is also a concern, particularly in structural areas. Carburettor tuning and general maintenance of the ageing engine can also present challenges.
WOF inspectors will pay close attention to the hydropneumatic suspension system, checking for leaks and proper functionality. Rust in crucial areas will be scrutinized. The condition of the braking system and overall roadworthiness will also be assessed.
While retaining the self-levelling suspension and distinctive design, the ID featured simpler mechanical components and fewer luxury features than the DS. This made it more reliable and easier to maintain. While not as powerful as the DS, the ID still offered a comfortable and distinctive driving experience.
