Description

Oil Filter Change-Up: RYCO Edition
> An oil filter's like a bouncer for your engine oil, stopping all the nasty bits from causing trouble. Over time, they get chocka-block full, which isn't ideal and can lead to your engine wearing out faster than it should – especially in those older Hondas like the Accord and Civic that have seen a few miles.

Signs It's Time for a New One
• Engine's not running as smooth as it used to.
• Funny noises coming from under the bonnet.
• Dashboard lights are having a yarn with you (oil pressure light).
• Oil looks like treacle shortly after a change.
• You're suddenly using more gas than you should be.

WOF Worries?
While a bunged-up oil filter won't fail you outright, it can cause engine damage or emissions issues, which *will* cause a WOF failure. Regular oil and filter changes are key to keeping your car healthy and road-legal.

DIY or Get a Pro?
Difficulty: 4/10 (DIY if you're handy with tools)
Estimated Time: 30-60 minutes
Gear You'll Need: Wrench (for the drain plug and filter), oil drain pan, funnel, new engine oil, rags, jack and jack stands (or ramps).

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, safety first, mate! Always wear safety glasses to keep the oil and grime out of your eyes, and grab some nitrile gloves to protect your hands – nobody likes oily mitts. Have a can of engine flush handy to give the old girl a good clean out before you drain the oil. Don't forget an oil drip tray to catch the old oil – keep the garage floor clean, eh? And remember, never get under a car supported only by a jack!

Bob's Two Cents
I reckon regular oil and filter changes are the cheapest insurance you can get for your engine, especially for those classic Hondas that might not get driven as often or have a few more k's on the clock. The RYCO Z130 oil filter is a top choice – good filtration and built tough to keep your engine safe. Pop into Bob's Shop for a yarn, and we'll sort you out with exactly what you need for your Honda.

Fitment Notes
This RYCO oil filter (Z130) is made specifically for a bunch of classic Honda vehicles from the late 70s to late 80s, including different versions of the Honda Accord (1979-1983), Honda Civic (1979-1983), Honda City (1983-1989), and Honda Prelude (1978-1982). Always have a squiz at the year and engine code to make sure it's the right fit for your ride.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Clean Workspace: Lay down an oil drip tray and microfibre towels under the oil drain plug.
• Gasket Inspection: Double check that the old oil filter's rubber O-ring came off with the filter, and pre-lube the new filter gasket with fresh oil before mounting.
• Clean Hands: Protect your hands from used engine oil with Nitrile Gloves.
