Description

D.I.Y. Disc Brake Rotor Replacement — DBA Featured
> Your Peugeot or Citroen's disc brake rotors are the unsung heroes of stopping. They work hard with the brake pads, especially in family wagons like the C4 Grand Picasso and the trusty 508 SW and take a real pounding. Over time, they wear out, leading to some pretty hairy braking situations.

Spotting the Warning Signs:
• Brakes sound like a rusty gate swinging shut?
• Steering wheel doing the jitterbug when you brake?
• Taking longer to pull up than a cafe lunch break?
• Rotors look like they've been attacked by a grinder?
• Brake pads wearing out faster than your socks?

WOF Woes?
Dodgy brake rotors are a surefire way to fail your WOF. They need to be above the minimum thickness and in decent nick to pass the test, mate.

Home Job or Mechanic?
Difficulty: 6/10 (a bit of a mission, but doable)
Estimated Time: 2-3 hours per axle (allow a full afternoon)
Gear You'll Need: Jack and stands (safety first!), wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and new brake pads (while you're at it).

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper axle stands. Also, chuck on some safety glasses to keep the brake dust out of your peepers.
• Keep it Clean! Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner before you start pulling things apart. And grab some Nitrile Gloves – your hands will thank you.
• Protect Your Investment: A little anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper bolts will make life easier next time you're in there.
• Consumables: Don't be shy with the brake cleaner – you'll get through a can. And have some rags handy for wiping up the inevitable mess.

Bob's Two Cents
Worn rotors are a no-brainer when it comes to safety. New ones mean better braking, less chance of an accident, and no further damage to other parts. If you're unsure about the right part for your Peugeot or Citroen, pop into Bob's Shop for a yarn!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
