Description

Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — The TRW Way
> Your Renault's brake pads are what bring you to a halt, pressing against the rotors. They wear down over time, especially if you're doing a lot of stop-start driving around town in your Twingo or Logan. Letting them go too long is just asking for trouble.
What Clued You In?
• Brakes squealing like stuck pigs?
• Taking longer to stop than you're comfortable with?
• Pedal feeling a bit soft and squishy?
• Pads looking thinner than a cafe lunch?
• Car pulling to one side when you hit the brakes?
WOF Worries?
Brake pads are a biggie when it comes to getting your WOF. They need to be thick enough to do the job properly. Give them a regular once-over to make sure you're up to scratch.

Expert Advice
New brake pads are a no-brainer for keeping your Renault safe. Letting worn ones go too long means longer stopping distances, and nobody wants that.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you dive in, make sure you've got these sorted:
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper jack stands.
• Nitrile Gloves: Keep your hands clean and protected from brake dust with a pair of Nitrile Gloves. That brake dust is nasty stuff.
• Brake Cleaner: Give those rotors a good blast with Brake Cleaner to get rid of any carbon dust and grime. Makes everything work better.
• Caliper Grease: A little dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots will keep things moving smoothly and prevent squeals. Don't go overboard, though!
• Eye Protection: Safety glasses are a must. Brake dust and debris can really ruin your day if they get in your eyes.

Fitment Notes
Double-check these pads are the right fit for your Renault. Some models have different brake setups. If you're not sure, give Bob a yell. Also, remember that some Renaults have drum brakes on the back, so these pads won't fit those. Swing by Bob's Shop at CARFIX and he will help you sort it out!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
