Disc Brake Rotor Replacement Guide — TRW: Keeping Your L300 Safe
> Worn brake rotors on your Mitsubishi L300 or Delica? They're crucial for stopping, and let's face it, these vans often get a hammering. Over time, rotors cop a beating from heat and friction, so keeping them tip-top is a no-brainer for safety. This guide walks you through swapping them out.
Is it time for new rotors?
• Hear a nasty grinding or squealing when you hit the brakes?
• Feel a judder or wobble through the brake pedal?
• Taking longer to stop than usual?
• Rotors look scored, cracked, or rusty?
Will it pass WOF?
Dodgy brake rotors are a surefire WOF failure. They need to be above minimum thickness and free from cracks to pass the test. Don't risk it!
DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10
Estimated Time: 1-2 hours per rotor
Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and potentially a brake caliper tool.
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you start wrestling with those rotors, grab these essentials:
• Safety First: Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper jack stands – your life's worth it!
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Grab a can of Brake Cleaner to blast it away from the caliper and new rotor.
• Hand Protection: Keep your mitts clean and protected with some heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves. No one likes brake dust under their fingernails.
• Anti-Seize: A little dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper pins helps everything slide smoothly and prevents future headaches.
Expert Recommendation
Worn brake rotors are a safety risk. Replacing them restores braking performance and prevents damage to other brake bits. The TRW rotor (DF7006S) is a solid choice for getting your L300 or Delica stopping like it should.
