AUCKLAND, 25 July 2026 — CARFIX has introduced a component dictionary that recognises the numbering families vehicle makers use for their parts, and a verification gate that every maker-number match must clear before it can influence what a customer sees.

The approach turns the original equipment number, the most precise identifier in the trade, into a working tool. Matches that cannot be verified are set aside rather than shown.

CARFIX now holds nearly three million maker part-number links across its catalogue, each one working behind the scenes to point owners to the right replacement.

A maker's part number is as precise as it gets. I only use it when I can prove the match.
