Three lines of defence between you and the wrong part

CARFIX has set out the architecture that decides what appears for your car: direct fitment first, the maker's own part numbers second, and a verified match of last resort.

AUCKLAND, 6 June 2026 — CARFIX has committed to a layered matching architecture for deciding which parts appear against which cars. The first layer is direct fitment, the part listed for that exact car. The second traces the maker's original part number to its replacements. The third, used only with verification, extends coverage through proven equivalent vehicles.

Every car is anchored to the international vehicle identifier the parts industry uses to tell one variant from another, so a parts list follows the exact version of a car rather than its badge.

The principle behind it is short: be definite about the products presented for each vehicle. Coverage is extended only where it can be proven.

Three checks, in order. If the first one can't prove it, the second has to. If none of them can, it doesn't go on your screen.
