Spark Plug TLC: Keeping Your V8 Roaring with NGK
> Spark plugs, eh? They're the unsung heroes igniting that precious air/fuel mix in your engine. Over time, heat and carbon buildup take their toll, leading to misfires and sapping your engine's oomph, especially in high-performance V8s found in beasts like Holden Commodores and Ford F-250s.
Spotting the Warning Signs
• Engine's misfiring, especially when you put your foot down
• Idling rough as guts
• Fuel economy's gone down the gurgler
• Struggling to fire up in the mornings
• That pesky check engine light's glaring at ya
Will it pass WOF?
She'll be right, provided your engine's running sweet and not blowing smoke like a chimney. Dodgy spark plugs cause incomplete combustion, hiking up emissions and risking a WOF fail.

Before you get cracking, a few things to keep in mind, yeah?
• Safety First, Mates! Engines get hot as, so make sure it's stone cold before you start fiddling. And disconnect the battery – no one wants a zap.
• Cleanliness is King: A clean engine bay is a happy engine bay. Give the area around the spark plugs a good wipe down to stop any muck falling into the cylinders when you pull the plugs.
• Spark Plug Socket: Get the right size so you don't damage the plug.
• Dielectric Grease: Smear a little on the inside of the boot connector to keep moisture out and ensure a good connection.
