Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — RDA Style
> Disc brake rotors are a seriously important bit of kit for your Ford Falcon or Fairlane's braking. They cop a hammering from the brake pads and wear down over time. That means less stopping power, especially when you're pushing it or just dealing with the daily grind.
Uh Oh... Symptoms You Might Be Noticing
• Brakes sounding like a choir of squealing pigs or a coffee grinder.
• The steering wheel or pedal is doing the Macarena when you brake.
• Taking longer to pull up than you'd like after the pub.
• Rotors look like they've been attacked by a crazed metalworker.
• Your brake pads are wearing out faster than your socks.
WOF Woes?
Dodgy brake rotors are a surefire way to fail your WOF here in New Zealand. They need to be thick enough and free from cracks to pass the test, mate.
Crack it Yourself or Call in the Pros?
Difficulty: 6/10
Estimated Time: 1.5 - 2 hours per axle
Gear You'll Need: Jack and stands (never get under a car supported only by a jack!), wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and maybe a brake caliper tool.
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking on those rotors, mate, let's sort out a few bits and bobs to make the job safer and easier:
• Safety First: Grab some safety glasses to keep the dust and grime out of your peepers. And a decent pair of nitrile gloves will save your hands from looking like you've been wrestling a mechanic.
• Cleanliness is Key: Brake dust is a pain. Have a can of Brake Cleaner handy to blast away the muck from the calipers and new rotors. Keeps everything sweet and prevents squealing.
• Anti-Seize Time: A little dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper bolts helps for easy removal next time. No one likes wrestling rusty bolts!

Bob's Two Cents
Worn rotors are a no-brainer when it comes to safety. Replacing them keeps your Falcon or Fairlane stopping like it should and keeps you out of trouble. Pop into Bob's Shop for a yarn and we'll get you sorted! I'm always on hand to help you work out exactly what part you need for your Ford Falcon or Fairlane. Important Fitment Notes
Make sure the new rotors are the same size and type as the old ones. Some models are different. Always do both sides at once to keep your braking even-steven.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
