Ford Falcon, Fairlane & Territory Brake Pad Replacement Guide — Featuring TRW
> Brake pads are what stops your beast. They convert the car's energy into heat by squeezing against the rotors. Over time, they wear down, especially on bigger cars like your trusty Ford. Don't get caught out; keep 'em in good nick!
Symptoms That Led You Here
• Squealing or grinding when you hit the brakes – sounds like a tram!
• Braking feels a bit... vague. Like trying to stop a runaway sheep.
• Pedal feels soft and spongy. Not ideal.
• You can see the pads are looking pretty sad.
• That pesky brake warning light's lit up on the dash.
Will it pass WOF?
Worn brake pads are a surefire way to fail your WOF in New Zealand. They need enough meat on them to stop safely. Regularly check your brake pad thickness to keep your Ford Falcon, Fairlane, or Territory road legal.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
