Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — With TRW
> Right, so brake pads. They're the unsung heroes of your car's braking system, using friction to bring you to a halt. But they don't last forever, especially in cars like the Citroen C5 and Peugeot 407 that handle everything from urban crawls to open-road blasts. Time and heat take their toll, mate.
Uh Oh... What Clued You In?
• Hear a squeal or grind when you hit the brakes?
• Brakes not as sharp as they used to be?
• Pedal feels a bit soft or spongy?
• Can actually *see* the wear and tear on the pads?
• Car pulling to one side when you brake?
WOF Time? Better Check Those Brakes!
Worn brake pads are a common cause for WOF failures here in NZ. They need to be thick enough to do the job properly. Give 'em a regular check to make sure you're all legal and safe.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get stuck in, here's a quick rundown to make sure you're doing it safe and smart:
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car that's only held up by a jack. Use proper axle stands. And grab some Nitrile Gloves to keep those hands clean.
• Brake Dust Be Gone: Give everything a good blast with some Brake Cleaner. This stuff cuts through the brake dust like a hot knife through butter and gets rid of carbon deposits.
• Lube is Your Friend: A wee bit of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots will keep things moving smoothly and stop those annoying squeals.
• Eyes Protected: Safety glasses are a must. You don't want any of that brake dust ending up in your peepers.
Fitment Notes
Double-check these pads fit your exact Citroen C5, Peugeot 407, or Peugeot 607 model and year. Some models have different brake setups or pad sizes. Always do both sides (front or rear) together for even braking.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
