Description

Disc Brake Rotor Swap-Out: TRW Edition
> Your disc brake rotors are crucial for good stopping power. Over time, they can get worn, warped, or even crack from all the heat and friction, especially if you're giving your SsangYong Korando or Musso a hard time off-road.

Spotting the Warning Signs:
• That brake pedal's doing the Macarena (vibrating like crazy).
• Your brakes are squealing like a piglet or grinding like dusty metal tracks.
• Taking longer than a cafe lunch to pull up to the lights.
• Seeing cracks or deep grooves when you peek at the rotor.

WOF Woes?
Worn rotors are a dead cert to fail your WOF here in NZ. Make sure they're thick enough and free from cracks to pass with flying colours.

Difficulty: 6/10
Time Needed: An hour or two per rotor
Gear You'll Need: Jack, stands, wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, maybe a caliper tool.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, safety first, eh? Never get under a car supported only by a jack! Use proper stands. Grab some Nitrile Gloves to keep your hands clean from all that brake dust. Speaking of brake dust, give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner before you start pulling things apart – it's nasty stuff. And don't forget a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the threads when you put it back together – makes life easier next time. Safety glasses are a no-brainer too.

Expert Advice
Dodgy brake rotors mean dodgy stopping, plain and simple. Getting them replaced keeps you safe and stops other brake bits from getting damaged. TRW's a good brand, but CARFIX has plenty of others. Bob at CARFIX is always here to sort you out with the right part for your SsangYong. Pop into Bob's Shop for a chat!

Fitment Notes
Double-check those new rotors match your old ones – diameter, thickness, the whole shebang. Some SsangYong models have different rotor sizes depending on the year, so don't get caught out.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
