Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — The RDA Way
> Brake pads, eh? They're what stop you, so keeping 'em in top nick is a no-brainer. Over time, they wear down, especially on rigs like the Nissan Navara and Subaru Alcyone SVX that see a bit of everything. Don't get caught out with dodgy brakes!
Signs Your Brakes Are Screaming for Attention
• Squealing like a stuck pig when you hit the brakes
• Brakes feeling a bit slow on the uptake
• Taking forever and a day to stop
• Brake pedal softer than a cafe lunch
• Pads looking worse for wear
WOF Woes?
Worn brake pads are a dead cert for failing your WOF. They need to be thick enough to do the job, so give 'em a squiz regularly. No point getting caught out!

Estimated Time: 2-3 hours
Tools You'll Need: Jack, axle stands (never skip these!), wrench and socket set, brake cleaner, brake pad spreader, torque wrench
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get cracking, safety first! Never get under a car supported only by a jack. Axle stands are your best mate here. Grab some Nitrile Gloves to keep your hands clean from all that brake dust (nasty stuff!), and safety glasses are a must to keep the grit out of your eyes.
While you're at it, give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner to get rid of the carbon dust. A wee bit of anti-seize caliper grease will help things move smoothly too. Trust me, a clean job is a good job!
Expert's Two Cents
Swapping out those brake pads is key to keeping your stopping power on point. Buggered pads mean longer stopping distances, and nobody wants that. Give Bob a yell at Bob's Shop if you're not sure what you need. He'll sort you right out!
Fitment Notes
Double-check these pads fit your exact model and year. Some Navaras and Alcyones have different brake setups. Always check the manufacturer's specs before you get stuck in.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
