Description

Brake Pad Replacement: RDA Style
> Brake pads are like the jandals of your braking system, they wear out over time as they rub against the rotors to slow you down. If your Nissan Terrano or Pathfinder's brakes are feeling a bit soft, especially when you're loaded up or off the beaten track, it might be time for a change.

Signs You Need New Pads
• Brakes squealing like a stuck pig, grinding, or just plain screeching.
• Taking longer to stop, or the brake pedal feels spongy.
• Feeling vibrations through the steering wheel when you brake.
• That pesky warning light on the dash.
• Visually, the pads are looking thinner than a cafe lunch sandwich.

Will it pass WOF?
Nah mate, worn brake pads are a WOF killer. They need enough meat left to actually stop you! Insufficient brake pad friction material will get you a big red sticker.

DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10 (A good weekend project)
Estimated Time: An arvo per axle (1-2 hours)
What You'll Need: Jack, jack stands (never skimp on safety!), wheel nut wrench, C-clamp or brake caliper piston tool, spanners, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and maybe a wire brush to clean things up.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, grab these essentials to make the job safer and easier:
• Safety First: Always wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from brake dust and debris. And never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack – use proper jack stands!
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Use Brake Cleaner to blast away the grime from the calipers and rotors. It'll help everything work smoother and prevent noise.
• Glove Up: Protect your hands with a pair of Nitrile Gloves. They'll keep the brake dust and grease off your skin.
• Lube it Right: A dab of [anti-seize caliper grease] (check your local auto store) on the caliper pins will keep everything moving freely and prevent future headaches.

Expert Recommendation
Bob from CARFIX always says, don't muck around with brakes! Replace those pads the moment they start showing wear. Especially on 4x4s like the Nissan Terrano and Pathfinder that cop a beating. If you are unsure, come see Bob @ CARFIX, he is always on hand to help you work out exactly what part you need for your Nissan Terrano or Pathfinder. Make sure you head over to Bob's Shop for a yarn!

Fitment Notes
These pads are designed for a bunch of Nissan Terrano, Mistral, and Pathfinder models from '86 to '07. Double-check the SKU against your specific model and year, especially with these older 4x4s. There are a lot of variations out there!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
