Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — With RDA
> Disc brake rotors are super important for stopping safely. Over time, they wear down from the brake pads rubbing against them, especially if you're driving a Subaru Impreza or Toyota Estima, which are common as cafe cruisers and family movers.
Spotting the Warning Signs
• Brakes squealing like a rusty gate?
• Feeling a judder in the pedal when you brake?
• Taking longer to stop than usual?
• Rotors looking a bit rough or scored?
• Brake pads wearing unevenly?
WOF Woes?
Worn brake rotors are a pretty common reason for failing a WOF here in New Zealand. Your rotors need to be above the minimum thickness and without any major cracks to pass the test.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, mate, safety first! Grab some safety glasses to keep the grit out of your eyes and nitrile gloves to keep your hands clean from brake dust. It's nasty stuff!

While you're at it, give your braking surfaces a good once-over with Brake Cleaner to blast away any carbon buildup. After you're done reassembling, apply a dab of anti-seize Caliper Grease to the caliper bolts. This will help prevent them from seizing up next time you need to get in there.

Never get under a car that's only supported by a jack. Use proper stands, full stop.
Bob's Two Cents
Dodgy brake rotors mean dodgy stopping! Replacing them keeps you safe and sound on the roads. The RDA rotor (RDA642) is a bloody good choice, but CARFIX has heaps of options for every budget. Pop into Bob's Shop for a yarn and we'll sort you out with the right parts for your Subaru or Toyota. Sweet as!
Fitment Notes
Make sure the new rotor is the right fit for your Subaru or Toyota. Some models have different sized rotors. Always do both rotors on the same axle to keep your braking balanced.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
