Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — With RDA
> Disc brake rotors are super important for good stopping power in your Suzuki. They wear down over time from the pads rubbing on them. This can make your braking not as good, cause vibrations, and be a safety risk, especially if you're tackling tough conditions in your Escudo, Vitara, or Jimny.

Signs You Might Need New Rotors
• Brakes making squealing or grinding sounds.
• Feeling a wobble or pulsing in the brake pedal.
• Taking longer to stop than usual.
• Seeing grooves, rust, or other damage on the rotor.
• Brake pads wearing out unevenly.

Will it pass WOF?
Worn or damaged brake rotors are a common reason for failing a WOF in New Zealand. The rotors need to be within the thickness the manufacturer says is okay, and they can't have cracks or bad damage to pass the test.

DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10
Estimated Time: 2-3 hours per axle
Tools Required: Jack and stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and potentially a brake caliper tool.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking on those brakes, let's make sure you're all set for a safe and tidy job. Brakes create a lot of nasty dust, so here's what Bob recommends:
• Safety First: Chuck on some Safety Glasses to keep the brake dust out of your peepers. And NEVER get under a car that's only held up by a jack – use proper stands, aye!
• Glove Up: Grab some Nitrile Gloves. Brake dust and grease are yuck, and these will keep your mitts clean.
• Cleanliness is Key: Have some Brake Cleaner handy. Give everything a good blast to get rid of that brake dust.
• Stop the Squeal: Use a dab of Anti-Seize Compound on the caliper bolts. It'll make life easier next time you're in there.

Expert Recommendation
Swapping out your disc brake rotors is key to keeping your brakes working well, especially on older Suzuki models like the Escudo, Vitara, and Jimny. The RDA rotors are a good choice, but CARFIX has a bunch of options to fit different budgets and how you drive. Bob @ CARFIX is always ready to lend a hand to help you work out exactly what part you need for your Suzuki. Make sure you head over to Bob's Shop for a chat!

Fitment Notes
Make sure the new rotors are the same size and type as the ones that came off your Suzuki. Some models might have different rotor sizes or setups. Always replace rotors in pairs (both sides of the axle) to make sure the braking is even.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
