Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — The RDA Way
> Disc brake rotors, eh? They're what your brake pads grab onto to slow you down. Over time, especially if you're giving it heaps in your HSV or Holden, they can wear out, warp, or even crack. Not ideal for a WOF, eh?
What Clued You In?
• Brakes squealing like a stuck pig?
• Feeling a judder in the brake pedal?
• Taking longer to pull up than you used to?
• Rotors looking a bit rough around the edges — cracks, grooves, rust?
WOF Worthy?
Worn rotors are a surefire way to fail a WOF here in NZ. They need to be a certain thickness and free from cracks to pass the test.

Difficulty: 6/10
Time Needed: 2-3 hours per axle
Gear You'll Need: Jack and stands (never get under a car supported only by a jack!), wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and maybe some new brake pads while you're at it.
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, safety first, yeah? Grab some safety glasses to keep the crud out of your eyes, and a pair of nitrile gloves to keep the hands clean. Give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner to get rid of that nasty brake dust – it's not good to breathe in! And while you're at it, a wee smear of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots will keep things moving smoothly for longer.
Bob's Two Cents
Worn rotors? Yeah, they'll ruin the performance and safety of your Senator or Commodore. Get them sorted to keep your braking spot-on and prevent damage to other bits. RDA rotors are good, but CARFIX has a range of options to suit your driving style and budget. Pop into Bob's Shop for a yarn and we'll sort you out with the right parts!
Fitment Notes
Make sure those new rotors are the same size and shape as your old ones. Diameter, thickness, bolt pattern — all that jazz. And some models need specific rotors for ABS brakes, so double-check!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
