Disc Brake Rotor Replacement Guide — Featuring TRW Rotors
> Disc brake rotors are absolutely vital for your Mercedes-Benz's braking performance. They're the surface your brake pads clamp onto to slow you down or bring you to a halt. Over time, these rotors can wear out, warp, or even crack from the heat and constant friction, especially if you're driving an E-Class or GLK-Class hard.
Spotting the Warning Signs
• Brake pedal feels like it's pulsating or vibrating
• Annoying squealing or grinding sounds when you hit the brakes
• Taking longer to stop than it used to
• Seeing obvious scoring or damage on the rotor itself
• Your brake pads are wearing unevenly
Will it pass WOF inspection?
Worn or damaged brake rotors are a pretty common reason for failing a WOF check here in New Zealand. Your rotors need to be above the minimum thickness and free from cracks or major damage to pass the test.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you dive in, mate, safety first! Never, ever get under a car that's only supported by a jack. Use proper stands. Grab yourself some safety glasses to keep the brake dust out of your eyes, and a pair of nitrile gloves to keep your hands clean from all the brake dust. While you're at it, a can of brake cleaner is gold for blasting away all that built-up carbon dust. And don't forget a little dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots to keep things moving smoothly.
