Description

Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — The RDA Way
> Your Mazda 6 or MX-5's brake pads are what slow you down, so it's no surprise they wear out. Letting them go too long can mean poor braking and even damage to your rotors. Keep on top of it for safe stopping, whether you're cruising around town or enjoying a spirited drive in your roadster.
What Clued You In?
• Brakes making a racket? Squealing or grinding noises are a dead giveaway.
• Braking feels a bit soft?
• Taking longer to stop than it used to?
• Feeling a wobble in the pedal when you brake?
• Pads look like they've seen better days?
WOF Woes?
Dodgy brakes are a quick way to fail a WOF here in NZ. Your pads need enough meat on them to pull you up safely. Give them a regular once-over to avoid any surprises.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, safety first, eh? Grab some safety glasses to keep the brake dust out of your eyes, and a pair of nitrile gloves to keep your hands clean from all that brake dust. While you're at it, give your rotors a good blast with some Brake Cleaner to get rid of any gunk. And don't forget a smear of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots to keep things moving smoothly.
Bob's Two Cents
I reckon you should get those brake pads sorted as soon as you notice any dramas. RDA pads are a fair bet for your Mazda 6 or MX-5, giving you good performance and lasting well. Swing by Bob's Shop for a yarn!
Fitment Notes

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
