Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — The RDA Way
> Brake pads, eh? They're like the jandals of your car's braking system – wear 'em down enough, and you're gonna have a bad time. Especially in a grunty wee thing like a BRZ or 86, giving it the beans puts extra stress on those pads. Time to get 'em sorted before things get dicey.
Tell-tale Signs You've Got Dodgy Brakes:
• Brakes squealing like a stuck pig?
• Taking longer to pull up at the lights?
• Feeling a bit of a judder through the pedal?
• Pads looking thinner than a cafe lunch?
• That pesky brake warning light glaring at you?
WOF Woes?
Worn brake pads are a surefire way to fail your WOF here in NZ. They gotta have enough meat on 'em to stop you safely. Check the Land Transport NZ guidelines to be sure.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you dive in, mate, safety first! Never get under a car supported only by a jack – those jack stands are your best mates. Grab some Nitrile Gloves to keep your hands clean, and safety glasses to keep the brake dust out of your peepers. Speaking of brake dust, give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner to get rid of that nasty stuff. And don't forget a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots to keep things moving smoothly next time you're in there.
Bob's Two Cents
Worn brake pads are a no-brainer when it comes to safety, and they can knacker your rotors too. Get 'em changed pronto! Fitment Notes
Double-check you've got the right pads for your specific Subaru or Toyota model and year. Some models, like the Tribeca or Impreza WRX STi, can have different brake setups. Best to be sure!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
