Description

Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — With RDA
> Your Jeep's brake pads are gonna wear down over time. It's just a fact of life, especially if you're giving 'em a hiding towing or hitting the trails. Letting them go too long can mean dodgy braking and even damage your rotors. No good!
Uh Oh, Sounds Like You've Got These Symptoms...
• Brakes sound like a pack of seagulls when you pull up.
• Your Jeep's not stopping like it used to.
• Feels like you're driving over rumble strips when you brake.
• You can see the pads are looking pretty sad.
Will it pass WOF?
Worn brake pads are a quick way to fail a WOF here in NZ. They've gotta be thick enough to pull you up safely. Check the Land Transport NZ guidelines to be sure.
DIY or Workshop?
How Hard? 6/10

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, safety first! Always use axle stands when you've got your Jeep jacked up – never trust just the jack. Grab some Nitrile Gloves to keep your hands clean, and Safety Glasses to keep the brake dust out of your eyes. When you're putting the new pads in, give the caliper pins a little love with some anti-seize caliper grease to keep everything moving smoothly. And don't forget to give those rotors a good blast with Brake Cleaner to get rid of all that nasty brake dust.
Expert Recommendation
New brake pads are a no-brainer for a safe Jeep. RDA pads are a good balance of price and performance. Pop into Bob's Shop – I'm always here to help you find the right bits for your Jeep!
Fitment Notes
Make sure these pads are the right ones for your Jeep's year and model. Some Jeeps have different brake setups. Double-check everything before you start!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
