Description

Replacing Your Disc Brake Rotors — With RDA
> Disc brake rotors are a seriously important bit of kit in your Mitsubishi L200 or Pajero's braking system. Over time, they can wear down from all that friction, warp from the heat, or even corrode, especially if you're hitting the off-road tracks or living near the coast. That means your braking won't be as sharp, and that's not a risk worth taking.

Spotting the Warning Signs
• Squealing or grinding when you hit the brakes? That's a yarn.
• Feeling a wobble or judder in the brake pedal?
• Taking longer to stop than usual?
• Seeing scoring, rust, or any damage on the rotor itself?
• Brake pads wearing unevenly? Something's amiss.

Will it pass WOF?
Worn or damaged brake rotors are a pretty common reason for failing a WOF here in NZ. Your rotors need to be within the minimum thickness and in good nick to pass the test.

DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10
Estimated Time: About 1-2 hours per axle
What You'll Need: Jack and stands, wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and new brake pads (good idea to replace these too).

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, mate, safety first! Never get under a car that's only held up by a jack. Use proper stands. Grab yourself some Nitrile Gloves to keep the hands clean and a pair of Safety Glasses to keep the brake dust out of your eyes when cleaning. Speaking of cleaning, you'll want a can of Brake Cleaner to blast away all that nasty carbon dust from the old rotors and calipers before you fit the new ones. And don't forget a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the appropriate spots to keep things moving smoothly.

Expert Recommendation
Worn brake rotors mean your Mitsubishi L200 or Pajero won't be stopping as well as it should, especially if you're towing or tackling some tough terrain. Swapping them out gives you the best possible stopping power and keeps you safer on the roads. Bob @ CARFIX is always here to help you figure out exactly what you need for your Mitsubishi. Fitment Notes
Double-check that the new rotors are the right fit for your specific L200 or Pajero model and year. Some models can have different rotor sizes or setups, so it's worth double checking. Always replace brake rotors in pairs, too, so your braking is even on both sides.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
