Description

Mitsubishi Diamante/Magna Disc Brake Rotor Replacement Guide — Featuring RDA
> Disc brake rotors are a seriously important bit of kit in your Mitsubishi Diamante or Magna's braking system. Over time, they get worn down, warped from heat, or rusty. This means your braking isn't as sharp, which isn't ideal, especially with all the stop-start driving we do.
Symptoms That Led You Here
• Squealing or grinding when you hit the brakes.
• The brake pedal feels like it's vibrating or pulsing.
• Taking longer to stop than usual.
• You can see scoring, rust, or other damage on the rotor.
• Your brake pads are wearing unevenly.
Will it pass WOF?
Worn or damaged brake rotors are a surefire way to fail a WOF here in NZ. Rotors need to be above the minimum thickness and in good nick to pass the test.
DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10
Estimated Time: 2-3 hours per axle
Tools Required: Jack and stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, rotor removal tool (optional).
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking on those brakes, let's make sure you're sorted with all the right bits and bobs. Safety first, team!
• Safety Glasses: No one wants bits of rust or brake dust in their eyes. Grab a pair of safety glasses to keep your peepers protected.
• Nitrile Gloves: Keep your hands clean and away from brake dust with some heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves. Trust me, you'll thank me later.
• Brake Cleaner: Blast away all that carbon dust and grime with a can of Brake Cleaner. Makes the job much cleaner and easier.
• Caliper Grease: A little dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper pins keeps everything moving smoothly and prevents annoying squeals.

And remember, never ever get under a car that's only supported by a jack! Use proper stands – it's a no-brainer when it comes to safety.

Fitment Notes
Double-check that these rotors fit your specific Diamante or Magna model and year. Some models might have different rotor sizes. Always replace rotors in pairs (both front or both rear) for even braking.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
