Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — With RDA
> Your Mitsubishi Sigma or Galant's disc brake rotors are critical. Over time, they cop a beating from friction, heat, and road grit. This can make your braking less effective and less safe, especially in older cars.
Spotting the Trouble - Why You're Here
• Your brake pedal's doing the shimmy - vibrating when you brake.
• The brakes are squealing like a pig or grinding away.
• Taking longer to pull up at the lights.
• Rotors look scored, cracked, or rusty as.
• Brake pads wearing unevenly – that's not ideal, mate.
WOF Woes?
Worn brake rotors are a common cause for WOF failures here in NZ. They need to be within the minimum thickness and free from major damage to pass the test.

Time Needed: 2-3 hours per axle
Gear You'll Need: Jack and stands (never get under a car supported only by a jack!), wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and maybe a brake caliper tool.
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Always: Wear safety glasses to keep metal dust out of your eyes and heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves to protect your hands from brake dust and grease. Trust me, that stuff's not your skin's best mate.
• Cleanliness is Key: Before you even think about fitting the new rotors, give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner. This gets rid of brake dust and grime, ensuring a clean surface for the new pads and rotors to bed in properly.
• Protect Against Squeal: Use a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper pins and the back of the brake pads to prevent annoying squeals. A little goes a long way!
• Lube Those Threads: Apply a touch of anti-seize to the wheel studs to prevent them from seizing up in the future. Makes removing the wheels next time a piece of cake.
