Get Your Ford Stopping Right: Disc Brake Rotor Replacement with RDA
> Disc brake rotors are a seriously important bit of kit for your Ford's braking. Over time, especially if you're giving it a bit of stick in a Falcon GT, these rotors can wear down, warp, or even crack. That means less stopping power and, potentially, a properly dodgy situation.
Symptoms That Led You Here
• Brake pedal feels like it's pulsing or vibrating
• Brakes are making a squealing or grinding noise
• You can see cracks or deep grooves on the rotor
• Your stopping distance has increased noticeably
• Your brake pads are wearing unevenly
Will it pass WOF?
Worn brake rotors are a pretty common reason for failing a WOF here in New Zealand. Your rotors need to be above the minimum thickness and without any major cracks to get the green light.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car that's only supported by a jack. Use proper axle stands – it's a no-brainer for your safety.
• Brake Cleaner: Give those new rotors a good blast with Brake Cleaner to get rid of any manufacturing oils. Keeps everything sweet and prevents contamination.
• Caliper Grease: A little bit of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots will keep things moving smoothly and prevent annoying squeals. Trust me, you'll thank me later.
• Glove Up: Heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves are your best mate here. Keeps your hands clean and protected from all the brake dust and grime. Brake dust is nasty stuff.
• Eye Protection: Don't forget your safety glasses. You don't want any bits of rust or brake dust flying into your eyes while you're wrestling with those calipers.
Expert Recommendation
Bob @ CARFIX reckons you should always replace brake rotors in pairs. That way, you get even braking across the axle. Pop into Bob's Shop for a yarn!
Fitment Notes
These rotors are made to fit a bunch of Ford models from the '60s and '70s, like the Fairmont, Fairlane, and Falcon. Double-check they're the right fit for your exact model and year before you get stuck in. Make sure the rotor diameter and thickness match what you had originally.
Righto, get out there and get those brakes sorted! - Bob

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
