Description

Oil Filter Change-Up: The RYCO Way
> Oil filters are the unsung heroes, stopping gunk from mucking up your engine. Diesels like those in the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and SsangYong Korando? They're especially prone to dirty oil issues 'cause of how diesel burns.

Tell-tale Signs You're Here
• Engine's lost its mojo
• Sounds like a bag of spanners
• Oil light's on, which is never a good sign
• Oil looks like mud
• You can see bits floating in the oil

WOF Worthy?
A dodgy oil filter won't fail a WOF directly. But if your engine cops damage and starts blowing smoke or leaking oil, that's a different story.

DIY or Hand it Over?
Difficulty: 4/10
Time Needed: 30-60 minutes
What You'll Need: Oil filter wrench, socket set, drain pan, fresh oil, gloves, and your safety glasses.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, mate, a few things to remember. Safety first, always! Grab some safety glasses to keep the crud out of your eyes, and a decent pair of nitrile gloves will save your hands from looking like they've been down a coal mine. Have a can of engine flush handy to give the old girl a good internal clean before you drain the oil. And don't forget an oil drip tray to catch the old oil—nobody wants an oil slick on their driveway! Finally, a good squirt of Brake Cleaner will blast away any carbon dust.

Expert Tip
Swapping out your oil filter regularly is a no-brainer for keeping your engine sweet. Bob at CARFIX reckons you should do it every time you change your oil to keep things running smoothly. Fitment Notes
Double-check you've got the right filter for your model and engine. Even within the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and SsangYong Korando families, things can vary. Check your service manual or ask a mechanic to be sure.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Clean Workspace: Lay down an oil drip tray and microfibre towels under the oil drain plug.
• Gasket Inspection: Double check that the old oil filter's rubber O-ring came off with the filter, and pre-lube the new filter gasket with fresh oil before mounting.
• Clean Hands: Protect your hands from used engine oil with Nitrile Gloves.
