Description

Swappin' Out Yer Brake Pads — Featurin' TRW
> Brake pads, eh? They're what rub against the rotors to slow your GTO or 3000 GT. Over time, they wear down, and that means less stopping power. And with these cars, you wanna be able to pull 'er up quick smart.

Signs You've Come To The Right Place:
• Hearin' a squeal or grind when ya brake
• Takin' longer to stop than usual
• Vibrations comin' through the brake pedal
• Pedal feels a bit soft or spongey
• Can see the pad's worn down (less than 3mm left)

Will it pass WOF?
Nah, mate. Worn brake pads are a dead cert WOF failure. If they're too thin (under 2mm, but best to replace around 3mm anyway) or worn unevenly, you're gonna fail. Safety first!

DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10 (A Decent Challenge)
Time Needed: An hour or two per axle
What You'll Need: Jack, stands, lug wrench, C-clamp or piston compressor, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and maybe some caliper pin grease.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety Glasses: Keep that brake dust out of your peepers! Safety Glasses
• Nitrile Gloves: Brake dust and grease are minging! Keep your mitts clean. Nitrile Gloves
• Brake Cleaner: Blast away that carbon dust buildup for a cleaner job. Brake Cleaner
• Caliper Grease: A little dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the guide pins keeps things sliding smoothly and prevents annoying squeals. Helps keep things quiet.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
