Description

Brake Pad Replacement: A TRW Guide for Kiwis
> Brake pads are the unsung heroes that press against your brake rotors, turning 'uh-oh' moments into safe stops. Like the tread on your tyres, they wear down over time, especially with all that start-stop driving in the city or hauling the kids around in the X-Trail.

Warning Signs You've Found This Page
• Brakes squealing like a rusty gate? That's not good.
• Brake pedal feeling soft, like you're stepping on a sponge?
• Steering wheel or brake pedal vibrating when you hit the brakes?
• Taking longer to stop than usual? Definitely time for a check.
• Pads looking thin? Less than 3mm of material left means urgent attention.

WOF Woes?
Worn brake pads are a no-brainer WOF failure. Get them sorted before your next inspection to keep your ride safe and legal.

DIY or Call in the Experts?
Difficulty: 6/10 (Moderate)
Estimated Time: 1-2 hours per axle
Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, C-clamp or brake caliper piston tool, wrench set, brake cleaner, torque wrench, safety glasses, gloves.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper jack stands – your life depends on it!
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Use plenty of Brake Cleaner to blast it away from the rotors and calipers. This also helps your new pads bed in properly.
• Protect Your Hands: Wear Nitrile Gloves to keep your hands clean and avoid getting brake dust and chemicals on your skin.
• Grease is the Word: A little dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper pins will keep everything moving smoothly and prevent future squeaks.
• Eye Protection: Safety glasses, always.

Bob's Two Cents
I reckon replacing brake pads as soon as you spot wear is just good common sense. Why risk it? Letting them go too long can damage the rotors, and that's just more $$$ down the drain. Pop into Bob's Shop, and we'll get you sorted with the right gear for your Nissan!

Vehicle Fitment
These TRW brake pads fit a massive range of Nissans, including the NISSAN TIIDA (2007-2011), NISSAN X-TRAIL (2007-2013), NISSAN DUALIS/QASHQAI (2007-2013), NISSAN ALTIMA Hybrid (2007-2013), NISSAN MURANO (2009-2014), and even the sporty NISSAN JUKE DIG-T NISMO RS (2014-2019). Just double-check the year and model to be 100% sure they're the right fit!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
