SsangYong Brake Pad Swap: A Kiwi DIY Guide — Starring TRW
> Sweet as! Your SsangYong's brakes are pretty important, eh? Especially on the Korando and Musso, seeing as they're tough vehicles often used for lugging stuff around or hitting the gravel roads. Over time, those brake pads wear down, and you'll find it harder to stop safely. Let's get them sorted.
How'd You End Up Here?
• Brakes are squealing like a gutted pig.
• Taking longer to pull up at the lights.
• Brake pedal feels like you're stepping on a sponge.
• Pads look thinner than a cafe lunch.
Will it pass WOF?
Worn brake pads? Yeah, nah, that's a WOF failure for sure. They need to be thick enough to actually stop the car properly. Give 'em a regular squiz to make sure you're all good.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get cracking, let's make sure you're set up for success. Safety first, always!
• Safety Glasses: Don't want any brake dust or cleaner in your peepers. Grab some Safety Glasses.
• Nitrile Gloves: Keep your hands clean and protected from brake fluid and grime. Nitrile Gloves are the go.
• Brake Cleaner: Blast away that carbon dust and keep everything clean as a whistle. Brake Cleaner is your best mate here.
• Caliper Grease: Apply a thin layer of anti-seize caliper grease to the back of the new pads where they contact the caliper piston. This prevents noise and ensures smooth operation.
And a golden rule: Never get under a car supported only by a jack! Use jack stands – they're a no-brainer.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
