Swapping Out Your BMW 1 Series Brake Rotors — DBA Featured
> Your BMW 1 Series relies on disc brake rotors to help you pull up safely. These rotors provide the crucial surface that your brake pads grip to slow you down. Over time, especially with the tough conditions our cars face daily, these rotors can wear thin, warp out of shape, or even crack. A warped rotor is a bummer, but an easy fix.
Spotting the Warning Signs
• That brake pedal is vibrating like crazy
• Brakes squealing like stuck pigs
• Taking way too long to stop
• Can see cracks or deep grooves on the rotor
• Brake pads wearing unevenly? That's not ideal
WOF Worries?
Worn brake rotors are a surefire way to fail your WOF here in New Zealand. Your rotors need to be above the minimum thickness and free from any major damage to pass the test.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever crawl under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper axle stands. Grab some Nitrile Gloves to keep your hands clean, and safety glasses to protect your eyes from flying brake dust.
• Cleanliness Counts: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner before you start pulling things apart. This will make the job cleaner and safer.
• Protect Your Investment: Smear a little anti-seize caliper grease on the brake pad backing plates and caliper slide pins. This will help prevent squealing and ensure smooth operation.
