Known issues

Chassis corrosion is the primary concern, particularly in the steel frame, and it should be inspected carefully. Fiberglass bodywork can be prone to cracking. The engine can be robust if well maintained, it will likely need parts replaced or upgraded. Due to its limited volume even in the UK, sourcing parts is still a challenge.

WOF tips

WOF inspections will focus on chassis integrity, brake condition, headlight alignment, and tyre condition. Check that the suspension components are in good order with no excessive play. Chassis corrosion to load bearing areas will fail a WOF.

About the Tvr Vixen 1600 S3

The Vixen used a fiberglass body on a tubular steel chassis. This construction method contributed to its light weight. Its relative simple engine was borrowed from Ford. These cars were not numerous even when new, so finding one in New Zealand is a rare treat.
