The Chrysler D-50 (also sold as the Mitsubishi Forte) was a compact pickup truck that gained popularity in the late 70s and early 80s for its combination of affordability and utility. Known issues

Rust is a major concern, especially in the chassis rails, cab corners, and bed. Engine issues such as oil leaks, worn piston rings, and carburetor problems are common. Suspension wear and tear, including leaf spring fatigue, is to be expected. Electrical problems can also arise due to corrosion.

WOF tips

Carefully inspect the chassis for rust and structural integrity. Check the braking system, including brake lines, hoses, and condition of the drums/rotors. Suspension components, particularly leaf springs and shock absorbers, should be thoroughly inspected. Ensure all lights are functional and properly aligned. Tire condition is crucial, and load rating should be adequate.

About the Chrysler D-50 Commercial

The D-50 was a simple and rugged truck, typically powered by a carbureted engine. Its compact size made it maneuverable for urban use, while its bed offered practical hauling capacity. Parts availability may be a challenge, though some components may be shared with other Mitsubishi vehicles of the same era. Rust is a significant concern, particularly in the chassis and body panels. Durability was decent for their time.
