Oil Filter Change: Keep Your Classic Sweet as With RYCO
> An oil filter's like a bouncer for your engine, keeping all the nasty bits out of your oil. Over time, these filters get chocka-block, slowing down the oil flow and potentially causing your engine to wear out faster, especially in older motors like those in Austin Montegos and Rover 400s. Don't let your classic turn into a lemon!
Signs It's Time for a New Oil Filter
• Engine's not running as smoothly as it used to
• Warning light's popped up on the dash (though not always for just a blocked filter)
• Engine's making funny noises (tapping or knocking)
• Oil's looking dark and sludgy, even after a recent change
• Fuel consumption's gone up
WOF Woes?
While a dodgy oil filter won't fail a WOF directly, the engine damage it can cause (like blowing smoke, leaking oil, or failing emissions) definitely will. Regular oil and filter changes are a no-brainer for keeping your engine healthy and your WOF current.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, safety first, eh? Grab some Nitrile Gloves to keep your mitts clean, and safety glasses are a must to protect your eyes from any splashes. Have an oil drip tray handy to catch the old oil, and don't forget plenty of rags to mop up any spills. A good engine flush additive before the oil change can help loosen up any stubborn gunk, and a quality oil filter wrench will make removing the old filter a breeze.
Important: Never get under a car supported only by a jack! Use proper jack stands.
