Description

Renault Master Brake Pad Replacement: An RDA Guide
> Brake pads are what stop your Renault Master, so keeping them in good nick is a no-brainer. Pads wear down over time, especially if you're always loaded up or doing deliveries around town. Worn pads mean longer stopping distances and can even damage your rotors.

Spotting the Warning Signs
• Squealing like a stuck pig when you hit the brakes?
• Taking ages to pull up, even with your foot flat to the floor?
• Feeling a wobble or judder through the brake pedal?
• Pads looking thin or cracked when you peek through the wheel?
• Dashboard warning light glaring at you?

Will it pass WOF?
Buggered brake pads are a surefire way to fail your WOF here in NZ. They need to be thick enough to actually, you know, stop the van safely. Check the official Land Transport NZ guidelines for the exact rules.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking on those brakes, mate, here's a quick rundown to keep you safe and your van running sweet:
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a vehicle that's only held up by a jack. Use proper axle stands – your life's worth more than a cafe lunch!
• Blast Away the Gunk: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Grab a can of Brake Cleaner to spray down the calipers and rotors. Keeps everything clean and helps the new pads bed in properly.
• Glove Up: Keep those mitts clean with a pair of Nitrile Gloves. Brake dust and grease are a pain to get off.
• Stop the Squeal: A dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the brake pad shims (the metal plates on the back of the pads) stops annoying squeals.
• Protect Your Peepers: Safety glasses are a must-have. Flying brake dust in the eyes is no fun at all.

Expert Recommendation
Swapping out brake pads regularly is key to keeping your Renault Master safe and sound. It all depends on how you drive and what you're after. I am always on hand to help you work out exactly what part you need for your Renault Master. Make sure you head over to Bob's Shop for a chat!

Fitment Notes
Double-check these pads fit your exact Renault Master – year and model. And check if you have ABS and what size rotors you're running to be 100% sure.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
