Description

Swapping Out Your Renault Master's Brake Pads — With RDA
> Brake pads, eh? They're what stops your Renault Master, and they wear down over time. Especially important on a workhorse like the Master, which is often lugging heavy loads. Letting them wear too thin is asking for trouble.
What Clued You In?
• Squealing like a stuck pig or a nasty grinding when you hit the brakes.
• Braking feels a bit dodgy, taking longer to pull up.
• That pesky brake pad warning light's lit up on the dash.
• You've eyeballed 'em and they look properly shagged.
• They're wearing unevenly – never a good sign.
WOF Worthy?
Thin brake pads are a surefire way to fail a WOF here in NZ. They gotta be thick enough to do the job safely. Check the Land Transport NZ guidelines to be dead sure.
DIY or Hand it Over?
Difficulty: 6/10

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates!: Never, ever get under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Use proper jack stands – your life's worth more than saving a few bucks.
• Brake Cleaner is Your Friend: Blast away that brake dust with some Brake Cleaner. It's nasty stuff, so wear safety glasses!
• Keep Those Hands Clean: Brake dust is a bugger to get off. Grab some heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves before you start.
• Copper Anti-Seize: A wee dab of copper anti-seize on the caliper bolts will make life easier next time you're in there.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
