RDA Brakes · Part number RDX1306SM · NZ$136.00 incl. GST
Righto, for tough rigs like your Land Rover Defender or Freelander, decent brake pads are super important. They turn all that forward motion into stopping power, keeping you safe whether you're on the open road or tackling some proper Kiwi back country.

Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — With RDA Pads
> Your brake pads are a key part of your Land Rover's stopping setup, designed to wear down as they rub against the rotors. If you're giving your Defender or Freelander a hard time off-road, or loading it up, worn pads can be a real worry for safety.
Spotting the Warning Signs
• Squealing like a stuck pig when you hit the brakes.
• Taking ages to pull up.
• The brake pedal vibrating like crazy.
• The pedal feels soft and spongy.
• Pads look thinner than a cafe lunch slice of bacon.
Will it pass WOF?
Worn-out brake pads are a guaranteed WOF failure here in NZ. Your brakes, including the pads, need to be up to scratch to pass the test.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, safety first, mate! Always use axle stands when you're under the vehicle – never trust a jack alone! Grab some safety glasses and nitrile gloves to keep the muck off. Now, give those rotors a good blast with some brake cleaner to get rid of all that brake dust – it's nasty stuff. When reassembling, a wee dab of anti-seize grease on the caliper bolts will make life easier next time you're in there.
Bob's Two Cents
I reckon you should change your brake pads as soon as you notice any wear. It keeps you safe and stops you from damaging other parts, like the rotors. RDA's RDX1306SM pads are a top choice for your Landy, giving you good performance and lasting well. Call into Bob's Shop for a yarn, and we'll make sure you get the right pads. Sorted!
Fitment Notes
These pads fit various Land Rover Defender and Freelander 2 models, including the Defender 90, 110, and 130 TDI/Td5/Td4, and Freelander 2 Si4/SD4. Double-check the SKU against your vehicle's year, model, and engine to be sure, especially with all the different Land Rover versions out there.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
