Description

Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — Featuring RDA
> Brake pads are what give you the stopping power, pressing against the rotors to slow you down. They wear down over time, especially if you're towing or hitting those tough Kiwi back roads in your Mazda CX-5, Mitsubishi Triton, or Mazda CX-9.

Uh Oh, Sounds Like You've Got These Symptoms
• Brakes squealing like a stuck pig?
• Taking longer to pull up at the lights?
• Pedal pulsing when you hit the brakes?
• Pads looking a bit thin or worse for wear?

Will it pass WOF?
Worn-out brake pads are a quick way to fail your WOF. Best get them sorted to the required thickness to keep you legal and safe.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper axle stands. And chuck on some safety glasses to keep the brake dust out of your peepers.
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Grab a can of Brake Cleaner to blast away the muck before you start pulling things apart. Makes the job a lot nicer, trust me.
• Lube is Your Friend: A little anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper pins will keep things moving smoothly and prevent future squeals. Don't go overboard, just a dab will do ya.
• Hand Protection: Nitrile gloves. Keep your hands clean and protected from the brake dust and grime. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
