Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — With RDA
> Your brake pads are what bring you to a halt, so keeping them in good nick is a no-brainer. As they wear down, you'll notice your stopping power isn't what it used to be – not ideal, especially in older cars like your Mazda 323 or Ford Laser. Get the job done right, and keep your classic safe as houses.
Gutted? Reckon These Are Your Symptoms?
• Brakes sound like a startled pig when you hit the pedal?
• Brakes about as responsive as a sleepy cat?
• Taking forever and a day to pull up?
• Brake pedal feels like you're stepping on a sponge?
• Pads look thinner than a cafe lunch slice of ham?
WOF Worries?
Dodgy brakes are a surefire way to fail a WOF here in NZ. Your pads need enough meat on them to pull you up safely. Give 'em a regular check to keep on the right side of the law.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Right, before you get cracking, a few quick words of wisdom from yours truly.
• Safety First, Eh? Wear safety glasses. Brake dust in the peepers is no fun. Also, those brake calipers can be stubborn so protect your hands with some Nitrile Gloves.
• Cleanliness is Next to...Stopping-ness! Grab a can of Brake Cleaner to blast away all that built-up brake dust and grime. Keeps everything working smoothly and helps you spot any issues.
• Anti-Seize is Your Mate: A wee dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper pins keeps everything moving freely. Stops those annoying squeals, too!
Fitment Notes
Make sure these pads are the right fit for your specific model and year. Some models can be a bit different. Always do both sides at once to keep your braking even-stevens.
Bob's your uncle!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
