Description

Brake Pad Replacement: Get Your Mazda or VW Stopping Like New!
> Brake pads, eh? They're the unsung heroes that wear down slowly as you cruise around. If you're piloting a Mazda CX-5 or a trusty VW Passat, keeping those brakes sharp is a total no-brainer for keeping everyone safe on our roads. Let's get those brakes sorted, mate!

Is it Time for New Pads? Keep an Ear Out For:
• Squealing like a pig, grinding, or just plain noisy brakes.
• Taking way too long to pull up at the lights.
• The steering wheel giving you the shakes when you brake.
• Pads looking thinner than a cafe lunch slice (less than 3mm).
• That pesky brake warning light glaring at you.

Will it pass WOF?
Absolutely not, mate. Dodgy brakes are a WOF killer. If your pads are thinner than a Kiwi summer tan (less than 1.5mm-3mm, check your manual), or making a racket, you'll be walking home. Get them sorted!

DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10 (A Good Weekend Challenge)
Estimated Time: A couple of hours per axle, give or take.
Gear You'll Need: Jack, stands (never skip these!), wheel wrench, G-clamp or piston tool, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, wire brush, and maybe a brake bleeder kit.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you even think about touching those brakes, safety first! Grab some safety glasses to keep the dust and grime out of your peepers. And don't even start without a trusty set of nitrile gloves – brake dust is nasty stuff.

Speaking of nasty stuff, give those rotors a good blast with some Brake Cleaner before you slap on the new pads. It'll get rid of all the carbon dust and grime, and help those new pads bed in nicely. While you're at it, a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper pins will keep everything moving smoothly.

Expert Recommendation
Bob always says, don't muck around with brakes! Change those pads the moment they look suss, or your stopping distances will be dodgy and you risk damaging the rotors. Pop into Bob's Shop, and let's find the perfect pads for your Mazda CX-5 or Passat!

Fitment Notes
These RDB2210 pads fit a heap of popular rides, like the Mazda CX-5 and CX-3 (all those Skyactiv engines from 2013 onwards), and the VW Passat and Eos (TDI, TFSI, TSI, and even the beastly R36 from 2005-2015). Still, double-check they're right for your exact model – even within the same range, things can change!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
