Description

Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — The RDA Way
> Your Hyundai i30 or Kia Cerato's brake pads are gonna wear down over time – it's just part of the deal. When they do, your stopping power takes a hit, and you might even end up damaging your rotors. Keep on top of replacing them, and you'll be sweet, especially when you're dealing with the school run or a long haul.

Uh Oh! Is This You?
• Brakes are squealing like a stuck pig or grinding like crazy?
• Braking feels like you're trying to stop a runaway train?
• Taking forever and a day to pull up?
• Feeling a judder in the pedal when you hit the brakes?
• Pads look like they've seen better days?

Will it pass WOF?
Worn brake pads are a surefire way to fail your WOF here in NZ. They need enough meat on them to pull you up safely. Give 'em a regular once-over to make sure you're all legal.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get cracking on those brakes, let's make sure you're sorted with the right bits and bobs to do the job properly. Safety first, eh?
• Safety Glasses: No one wants brake dust or cleaner in their eyes. Grab a pair of safety glasses to keep your peepers protected.
• Nitrile Gloves: Brake dust and grime are a mongrel to get off your hands. A decent set of Nitrile Gloves will keep your mitts clean and grease-free.
• Brake Cleaner: This stuff's gold for blasting away brake dust and oil from your rotors and calipers. A can of Brake Cleaner is a must-have.
• Caliper Grease: A wee dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper pins will keep everything moving smoothly and prevent those annoying squeals. You can grab this from any automotive shop.

Expert Recommendation
Swapping out your brake pads is key to keeping your Hyundai i30, Kia Cerato, or Hyundai Kona safe on the road. If your pads are past their prime, your braking is going to suffer – and that's just asking for trouble, especially with our sometimes dicey driving conditions. Fitment Notes
Double-check these brake pads are the right fit for your specific year and model. Some Hyundai i30 and Kia Cerato models can be a bit different. Always check the manufacturer's specs before you start.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
