Brake Pad Replacement for Your Jeep — RDA to the Rescue!
> Brake pads, eh? They're the hardworking fellas in your Jeep's brake setup, clamping down on the rotors to kill your speed – that's turning 'go' into 'whoa'. But, like a good pair of boots, they wear out, especially on heavier SUVs doing the hard yards towing or hitting the back country. Less pad means less stop, which is a no-no.
Uh Oh, Time for New Pads If...
• Your brakes are squealing like a piglet or grinding like your gears.
• The brake pedal feels softer than a day-old pavlova.
• The steering wheel's doing the jitterbug when you brake.
• You're needing a whole postcode to pull up.
• That pesky dashboard light's glaring at you.
Will it pass WOF?
Worn-out brake pads are a surefire way to fail your WOF here in New Zealand. If there's not enough meat left on those pads (less than 1.5mm-2mm usually) or they're wearing unevenly, your vehicle won't pass the safety check. It's just not worth the risk, mate.

Time Needed: Give yourself a good 1-2 hours per axle

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, a quick yarn about doing it right. Safety first, always! Never get under a vehicle supported only by a jack – those stands are your best mate. Give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner to get rid of that nasty brake dust – it's not good for your lungs! And those calipers? A smear of anti-seize grease on the guide pins keeps things smooth as. Grab some safety glasses and Nitrile Gloves too – nobody wants brake dust in their eyes or grease under their fingernails!
Bob's Two Cents
I reckon you should swap out those brake pads pronto once you spot any wear. Keeps you stopping sweet and saves your rotors from getting wrecked. The RDA RDB1935 pads are a top pick for your Jeep, built tough for SUV life. Don't skimp on safety – brakes are a no-brainer. Swing by Bob's Shop for a yarn, and we'll sort you out with the right bits for your Jeep!
Fitment Notes
These pads are tailormade for the front of Jeep Commander V8s (2005-2010), Grand Cherokee V6s (2004-2010), Grand Cherokee CRDs (2005-2010), and Commander CRDs (2006-2010). Always double-check the fine print – your Jeep's year, model, and engine – to make sure they're the right fit. Even within the same family, things can vary.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
