Description

Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — The RDA Way
> Brake pads? Yeah, they're kinda important. They're what rub against the rotors to slow you down. They wear out over time, especially if you're always on the brakes in your Corolla or Prius.
What Clued You In?
• Brakes screeches like a banshee?
• Taking longer to stop than you'd like?
• Brake pedal feeling a bit soft, aye?
• Pads look a bit thin, or worse, damaged?
• That pesky brake light's lit up on the dash?
WOF Ready?
Bald brake pads will fail a WOF faster than you can say 'failed'! Gotta have enough meat on those pads to stop safely.

Before you even think about touching those brakes, grab these essentials:
• Safety First, Mates: Eye protection is a no-brainer. You don't want brake dust or debris flying into your peepers. Grab some Safety Glasses.
• Keep Those Hands Sparking: Brake dust is a bugger to get off. A decent set of Nitrile Gloves will save your skin.
• Brake Cleaner: Blast away all that carbon dust before you start fiddling. Makes the whole job cleaner and safer. Brake Cleaner is your friend.
• Caliper Grease: A little dab of anti-seize caliper grease keeps everything moving smoothly and prevents annoying squeals. Don't skip this step!
Expert Tip
New brake pads are a no-brainer for safe driving. Dodgy pads mean longer stopping distances, and that's just not worth the risk, especially in busy cities where Corollas and Priuses are everywhere. Something for every budget and driving style. Bob @ CARFIX is always keen to lend a hand finding the right part for your Toyota. Swing by Bob's Shop for a yarn!
Fitment Notes
Make sure these pads fit your exact model and year. Brake pad designs can vary, so double-check before you get stuck in.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
