Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — Featuring RDA
> Brake pads are what stops your Mercedes-Benz! They turn the movement of your car into heat by squeezing against the rotors. Over time, that squeezing wears the pads down, especially if you drive your C-Class or CLK hard.
What Clued You In?
• Brakes are squealing like a pig stuck under a gate.
• Taking longer to stop than you're used to.
• The brake pad warning light's on.
• Pads look thinner than a cafe lunch slice of toast.
• Pads wearing unevenly? Caliper might be buggered.
WOF Worthy?
Worn brake pads are a dead cert for a WOF failure here in New Zealand. They gotta be thick enough to stop you safely, or it's a no-go.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car that's only held up by a jack. Use proper stands; your life's worth more than a few bucks.
• Brake Cleaner Brake Cleaner: Blast away all that nasty brake dust. It's bad for you, and it stops things working properly.
• Caliper Grease: A wee dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots keeps everything moving smoothly and prevents annoying squeals.
• Gloves Nitrile Gloves: Keep your hands clean and away from all that brake dust with some heavy-duty nitrile gloves.
• Eyewear: Protect your eyes from flying dust and debris with safety glasses.
Fitment Notes
Double-check these pads fit your exact Mercedes-Benz model and year. Pad designs can be different. Always do both sides at once to keep braking even and sweet. Give your rotors a good once-over too; if they're rough, get them machined or replaced, so the new pads bed in right. Bob's the guy to see at CARFIX!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
