Description

Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — The RDA Way
> Your brake pads are what stop you from turning your car into a crumpled mess. Over time, they wear down, and your stopping power goes to custard. Especially important on a tidy rig like a Nissan Primera or Skyline where you want to pull up sharpish. Let's get those brakes sorted, eh?

What Clued You In?
• Brakes sound like a flock of seagulls arguing.
• Taking longer to pull up than a cafe lunch queue.
• Your foot goes to the floor before anything happens.
• You can see the pad is thinner than your wallet after payday.
• That pesky brake warning light is glaring at ya.

WOF Worthy?
Worn-out brake pads are a dead cert for a WOF failure, mate. Make sure there's enough meat left on those pads to keep the WOF inspector happy.

DIY or Hand It Over?
Skill Level: 6/10 (bit of a mission, but doable)
Time Needed: 2-3 hours, give or take a smoko break.
Gear You'll Need: Jack, stands, spanners, sockets, brake cleaner, a G-clamp or pad spreader, and a torque wrench.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get cracking and potentially screw the pooch, here's what you need:
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car that's only held up by a jack. Use proper jack stands – your life's worth more than a new set of pads!
• Blast that Brake Dust: Grab a can of Brake Cleaner to spray down the calipers and rotors. Brake dust is nasty stuff, and you don't want to be breathing it in.
• Keep Your Mitts Clean(ish): Get yourself some Nitrile Gloves. Brake dust and grease are a pain to get off your hands, trust me.
• Copper Anti-Seize is Your Friend: A little dab of anti-seize on the caliper bolts will make your life easier next time you're doing this job. It'll stop them from seizing up solid.
• Protect the Discs: Be careful not to get any grease on the disc rotor surface.

Expert's Two Cents
Swapping out your brake pads regularly is a no-brainer for staying safe on the roads. If your pads are cactus, you'll be kissing goodbye to decent stopping distances and hello to potential prangs. Pop into Bob's Shop for a yarn, and we'll sort you out with the right gear!

Fitment Notes
Double-check these pads fit your specific Nissan Primera, Skyline, or whatever else you're bolting them onto. Compare your car's specs with the pad measurements before you start swinging spanners.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
