Description

Disc Brake Rotor Replacement Guide — Featuring RDA
> Disc brake rotors are the unsung heroes of stopping power, turning all that 'go' energy into heat. But over time, they can wear down, warp, or get scored up – especially tough in a rig like your F-Pace tackling everything from city streets to winding back roads. That's when braking goes south and safety takes a hit.

Spotting Rotor Trouble
• Brake pedal or steering wheel shakin' like a dog passin' a peach pit when you brake.
• Brakes screamin', grindin', or scrapin' like crazy.
• Taking way longer to pull up than usual.
• Rotors lookin' rough – deep scratches, grooves, or weird colours.
• Brake pedal feels soft and spongey.

WOF Woes?
Yep, you'll fail a WOF faster than you can say 'flat white' with dodgy rotors. They're a biggie for safety, so no inspector will let you slide.

DIY or Hand it Over?
Difficulty: 6/10 (A good weekend project)
Time needed: 1-2 hours per axle
Gear you'll need: Jack, stands, wheel wrench, brake caliper tool, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, wire brush, safety glasses, gloves.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get stuck in, mate, let's make sure you're sorted for a safe and tidy job:
• Safety First: Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper jack stands – your life's worth more than saving a few bucks!
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give your rotors a good blast with Brake Cleaner before you start pulling things apart. This will stop brake dust from contaminating the air. After installation, another spray will remove any oily fingerprints.
• Glove Up: Protect your hands with some heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves. Brake cleaner and old brake fluid aren't friendly on the skin.
• Lube Wisely: A wee dab of anti-seize Caliper Grease on the caliper bolts makes life easier next time around. Don't go overboard, though!

Bob's Two Cents
Look, keeping the brakes on your F-Pace in top nick is a no-brainer for safety. If your rotors are showing any of those signs above, get them sorted. Pop into Bob's Shop for a yarn and we'll get you sorted with the right parts!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
