Disc Brake Rotor Replacement: The RDA Lowdown
> Disc brake rotors are key for your Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or Cadillac Escalade to pull up safely. They're where the brake pads grip to slow you down. But, like a good pair of jandals, they wear out over time, especially if you're towing or hitting the brakes hard in these big rigs. Ignoring worn rotors? That's just asking for trouble on our roads.
Spotting the Warning Signs
• Brake pedal's doing the shimmy or vibrating like crazy
• Brakes are squealing like a pig or grinding like dusty metal tracks
• Taking longer to stop than a runaway shopping trolley
• Rotors look like they've been through a warzone - scored, cracked, or rusty as
• Your brake pads are wearing unevenly – dodgy!
WOF Woes?
Worn brake rotors are a surefire way to fail your WOF here in NZ. They gotta be thick enough and in good nick to pass the test. No worries, we can sort it.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Right, before you get stuck in, a few quick things to keep you safe and sound:
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car that's only supported by a jack. Use proper axle stands – your life's worth it.
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner to get rid of it. Makes the job easier too.
• Glove Up: Protect your hands with some heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves. Keeps the grease and grime off.
• Lube is Your Friend: Use a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper bolts to prevent them from seizing up next time. Trust me, you'll thank me later.
• Eye Protection: Grab some Safety Glasses to protect your eyes from brake dust and debris.
Bob's Two Cents
Worn brake rotors are a serious safety risk, especially when you're hauling loads. Replacing them keeps your braking spot-on. Pop into Bob's Shop and we will get you sorted.
Fitment Notes
Double-check this rotor fits your exact Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Chevrolet Tahoe, or Cadillac Escalade model and year. Some models have different sizes. Always replace rotors in pairs for even braking. Bob's your uncle!
