Description

Disc Brake Rotor Replacement — With RDA
> Your Dodge RAM 1500 relies big time on its disc brake rotors. They can wear out over time, get warped from the heat, or rust up, especially if you're giving your truck a proper workout. That's when your braking can suffer.
Symptoms That Led You Here
• Grinding or squealing when you hit the brakes.
• Feeling a wobble or pulsing in the brake pedal.
• Taking longer to stop than usual.
• Seeing grooves, cracks, or rust on the rotor.
Will it pass WOF?
Buggered disc brake rotors are a pretty common reason for failing a WOF here in NZ. Rotors need to be at least the minimum thickness and without any nasty cracks or damage to pass the test.
DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10
Estimated Time: 1-2 hours per rotor
Tools Required: Jack and stands, wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, possibly a brake caliper tool.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking on those brakes, a few must-dos to keep you safe and the job tidy:
• Safety First, Mates!: Never, ever get under your RAM 1500 supported only by a jack. Use proper axle stands. Seriously.
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give those rotors a good blast with some Brake Cleaner before you start pulling things apart. It'll save you from breathing in all that muck.
• Protect Your Skin: Grab some Nitrile Gloves. Brake cleaner and old brake fluid aren't exactly kind to your skin.
• Lube is Your Friend: When you're putting things back together, a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper bolts and pad contact points will make life easier next time. Trust me.
Fitment Notes
Make sure the new rotor is spot-on for your Dodge RAM 1500 model year (1994-2001). Check the size, thickness, and where the bolts go.
