Description

Disc Brake Rotor Replacement — The CARFIX Way
> Your Volkswagen Transporter or Volvo XC60 relies on its disc brake rotors to stop safely. Over time, these rotors cop a beating from constant friction, heat, and even corrosion, which can make braking less effective, especially if you're hauling gear or passengers.

Spotting the Warning Signs
• Squealing or grinding? Sounds like it's time.
• Brake pedal vibrating? Not a good sign, mate.
• Taking longer to stop? Definitely get it checked.
• Rotors looking rusty, scored, or cracked? Time for a change.
• Brake pads wearing unevenly? Rotors could be the culprit.

Will it pass WOF?
Worn or rooted brake rotors are a quick way to fail your WOF here in NZ. Your rotors need to be above the minimum thickness and in good nick to pass the test.

DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10
Estimated Time: 1-2 hours per rotor
Tools Required: Jack and stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, rotor removal tool (optional)

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking on those rotors, here's a few must-haves to make the job safer and easier:
• Safety First, Mates! Grab some Safety Glasses to keep the dust and debris out of your peepers. And never, ever get under a car that's only supported by a jack! Use proper stands, yeah?
• Keep it Clean! Brake dust is nasty stuff. Have a can of Brake Cleaner handy to blast away the grime from the rotors and calipers. Makes the job a whole lot cleaner.
• Glove Up! Protect your hands with some Nitrile Gloves. Keeps the brake dust and grease off your skin, and makes clean-up a breeze.
• Grease is Your Friend: A bit of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots will keep things moving smoothly and prevent future headaches.

Expert Recommendation
Worn brake rotors are a no-brainer when it comes to safety for your Volkswagen Transporter or Volvo XC60. Swapping them out keeps your braking tip-top and stops other brake bits from wearing out too fast. RDA rotors are a solid choice, but we've got heaps of options at CARFIX. Fitment Notes
Double-check you're getting the right rotor size and type for your specific Volkswagen Transporter, Volvo XC60, or Land Rover Freelander 2. Some models need different rotors front and back. Always do both rotors on the same axle to keep your braking even.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
